INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE SERVICES

Industrial Hygiene

Occupational hygiene services refer to a range of practices and processes aimed at protecting workers from potential health hazards in the workplace. These services may include assessments of exposure to hazardous substances, noise, temperature, and other physical and chemical agents that could pose a risk to workers' health and safety.  WHS helps its clients to ensure the health and safety of their employees and to maintain compliance..​

Confined Spaces

At Western Health & Safety (WHS), we have extensive experience in conducting Confined Space Assessments for a variety of industries and workplaces. Our assessments include the following elements:
  • Identification and evaluation of potential hazards associated with the confined space
  • Preparation of a safe work permit or entry permit system
  • Preparation of Emergency Response Plans for any confined space
  • Worker training and education on the hazards associated with confined spaces and the control measures in place to minimize or eliminate exposure.
BC requires that confined space hazard assessments and procedures be prepared by by a CIH, ROH, CRSP, CSP and/or a P.Eng. WHS Occupational Hygienist have extensive experience in AB and BC preparing confined space hazards assessments and safe work procedures.

Noise Survey

​Industrial hygienists have the education, training, and experience to evaluate workplace noise levels, identify noise sources, assess the potential health effects of noise exposure, and recommend appropriate control measures to reduce noise levels in the workplace.

WHS industrial hygienist has the necessary education, training, and experience can meet the regulatory definition of a qualified person.

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments are designed to evaluate the quality of air inside buildings and other enclosed spaces, including homes, schools, and workplaces. Poor IAQ can have a significant impact on the health and well-being of building occupants, leading to symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, respiratory problems, and allergic reactions.
At Western Health & Safety (WHS), we have extensive experience in conducting IAQ Assessments for a variety of industries and workplaces. Our assessments include the following elements:
  • Evaluation of potential sources of indoor air pollution, such as building materials, cleaning products, and ventilation systems
  • Measurement of air quality parameters, such as temperature, humidity, and the concentration of pollutants such as carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Exposure Control Plans

Western Health & Safety (WHS), our team has extensive experience in developing and implementing Exposure Control Plans for a variety of industries and workplaces.  Our ECPs are designed to meet or exceed all applicable codes, standards, and regulations and are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure their ongoing effectiveness.

Asbestos Services

WHS is authorized by Alberta Labour to provide 2-day Alberta Asbestos Worker Certification course.
Workers can also come to our office and renew their certification. ​

Home owners, property managers, contractors and building owners can also bring their asbestos samples to our Calgary Office for analysis or we can collect the samples for you.
