Full Job Description

Reporting to and working with a Project Manager, you will help the project team to successfully deliver project objectives by positively liaising with client representatives, coordinating staff, developing sampling and inspection strategies, as well as writing client-sensitive reports. You will also be responsible in part for conducting hazardous materials (i.e. asbestos, lead, mould, PCB’s, lead etc.) site reviews and inspections of buildings, conducting air monitoring during building remediation, as well as performing some laboratory analysis. This position requires the successful candidate to work independently, but with direction and feedback from a designated supervisor.

At the minimum, ideal candidates will possess:

- Proven project coordination abilities;
- Leadership and management skills;
- Working knowledge of a variety of hygiene, health and safety issues in different working environments;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.);
- Effective time management and organizational skills;
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities; and
- Reliable vehicle with appropriate registration and insurance (some travel is involved).

Experience in hygiene, health and safety consulting, as well as a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or related experience, is a definite asset.

- Other Hazardous Materials
The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for performing the following tasks:
- Asbestos Surveys;
- Asbestos Air Monitoring and Inspections;
- Mould Air Monitoring and Inspections;
- Indoor Air Quality Investigations and Testing;
- Industrial/Occupational Hygiene Assessments (welding fumes, silica, dust, noise, etc);
- General Health and Safety Consulting for various clients.
